Rome, the Eternal City and the great Colosseum is without a doubt the most famous monument of the city It's the largest built by the Romans (in the year 80) with 189m long and 48m high, it could welcome 75,000 spectators! And as crazy as it may seem, in addition to the gladiatorial fights we all know, there were naumachies: the arena was filled with water and they were doing great naval battles (with real boats and real dead ). A large part of the Colosseum is missing, because after the earthquake of 1349, everyone came to dig in to recover large blocks of stone and continue to build Rome In short, the Colosseum, THE must-see place in Rome And you Rome, ever been there? #hopenroute #rome #colisee #colisée #colosseo #colosseum #romeitaly #rome #igersroma #romecityworld #romeantique #romain #antique #visitrome #rometravel #roma #igersrome #romeandyou #romecity #romeitaly #italie #italia #italy #ruine #ruins #monument #monuments #romelovers #rometodiscover #romephotography

The Baths of Caracalla in Rome are probably the most colossal Roman ruins you can see The largest and most luxurious Roman baths were located there. It was a concentrate of all that the Empire could offer: the most beautiful statues, the most beautiful marbles and ivories, gold coatings, immense mosaics, everything was there. The dimensions are truly enormous! It's hard to imagine it with its high domes and its various baths (heated by a maze of underground pipes). A real feat of engineering A truly impressive site! #hopenroute #caracalla #caracallatherme #thermes #baths #thermesromains #rome #roma #romain #empireromain #romecityworld #ruinesromaines #ruines #amazing #ruins #antique #rometourism #visitrome #roman #romaitalia #romeitaly #romeitaly #italie #romecity #romeandyou #histoire #history #colossal #huge #placetosee

You can't talk about Ancient Rome without visiting the Roman Forum It was the main square of the city, the heart of political, economic and religious life Many buildings were destroyed in the Middle Ages to serve as materials of construction. The excavations carried out under Napoleon III rediscovered the site: the Via Sacra (maybe the first street of Rome in -753!), The Arch of Titus, the Palatine hill (one of the 7 hills of the city) and the incredible Domitian Ramp (!), the ruins of the Tiberius Palace and the Emperor's Hippodrome, the Casina Farnese, and so many other things to discover I really recommend this visit (early in the morning, without all visitors ) #hopenroute #rome #roma #forum #forumromanum #forumromain #forumromano #ancient #ancientrome #romeantique #antique #ruine #ruins #viasacra #titus #palatino #palatin #casinafarnese #rometravel #romeitaly #romeitaly #romanempire #roman #romeandyou #romecity #villeeternelle #ruinesromaines #tourisme #visitrome #coopculture

THE Italian national monument in Rome, in homage to Victor-Emmanuel II he's not very well known, and yet, he's the first king of unified Italy on March 17, 1861 (yes Italy as a country, it's very recent!)
